Other Ways to Help

Updates from our partners in this effort can be found HERE

Volunteers of America Southeast would like to thank Southern Trucking Equipment from Theodore, AL for donating the use of a 40 foot container to stockpile emergency supplies for delivery to Haiti.

Volunteers of America Southeast recently made arrangements for the travel of Dr. Harold Van der Zee to the earthquake ravaged areas of Haiti. Dr. Van der Zee and Diane Cotman, VOA Michigan Board of Directors, are demonstrating / teaching trauma relief techniques and administering homeopathic trauma treatments to the people of Haiti. These systems have had excellent results in other earthquake and hurricane areas. By teaching groups of women, the word will spread and the women will teach and treat their families and their friends. The Haitian children have been traumatized in multiple ways, so Dr. Van der Zee will be traveling to the orphanages teaching staff and treating children.

A local Ono Island Charity Tennis Tournament raised 600 dollars for Haiti's Children today, and, along with other monies being gathered by Dr. Paul Glisson, will be used to buy antibiotics and other emergency medical supplies for God's Littles Angels Orphanage in Haiti. The air-conduits we have arranged into either Port au Prince or Cap Haitien appear to be air-tight now and ready for our use.

Relief Efforts for the Orphanage Moving Forward:

During the last couple of days, Volunteers of America Southeast has secured a partnership with God's Littlest Children orphanage in Petionville, Haiti ... approximately 3 miles from downtown Port-au-Prince. The effort will be identified as "Haiti's Children". Nurses at the orphanage sent us a list of the most urgently needed items for the children and people in the surrounding area (see below). We are also working with a large, local news agency, WALA Fox10, and the Mobile County Public School System to begin collecting these items for shipment to Haiti. Springhill Toyota in Mobile is hosting a donation drive on Friday the 29th from 10am - 3pm. We have an outlet for shipping right here from the Gulf Coast and are awaiting final plans for shipping the supplies. Please call Ron Emrich at 251-421-0094 to make donation arrangements for supplies, or donate online from the right of this page. 100% of your donations will be used to provide relief and ongoing help for Haiti's Children.

Mobile, AL (January 15, 2010) – The recent 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Haiti is estimated to affect over three million people in and around the capital and port city of Port-au-Prince. Haitian officials estimate that thousands of people, including scores of aid workers, have lost their lives. There is an immediate and urgent need for water, non-perishable food items, baby formula, and medical supplies. If you have case-packaged or pallets of water, non-perishable food, baby formula, or medical supplies, Volunteers of America Southeast has a drop-off location at 600 Azalea Road. Please contact Ron Emrich at 251-421-0094 for delivery information. We will ship containers of emergency supplies to Haiti as soon as the seaport is opened.  We are also recruiting volunteer nurses and doctors to work in Haiti in the near future.

The most expedient way to help is through monetary donations. Please donate online at www.voase.org or mail/drop off checks to:
